Varies. I play every sort. I have been playing with MoR to try to make a workable build out of it, but the huge fast-casting investment is a pain. My newest mesmer isn't even a mesmer primary, though with 6 mesmer skills she's undoubtably a mesmer. I guess I really enjoy shutdown, but I have a fondness for an anti-melee build as well, particularly in RA. I love mesmers and play a variety of pure mesmer builds, but feel that ANet has given them the short end of the deal in many ways.

I would have to say my favorite type of Mesmer is an Anti Melee Hexer. I Just like stacking about 6 hexes on a Warrior and watching him die. I would have to agree alot of people underestimate Mesmers, and ANet has given them the short end of the deal in many ways, compared to the more favored classes (Warrior, Elementalist and Monk)

shutdown/interrupt is great when your running it well, but i lag bad so often that it gets very hard for me to use effictively, but when i do.....YEAH!
max degen is lots of fun too, just watching their health drain away....hehe.
and finally IW, just fun to use, extremely easy to counter, but so much fun....

Ahhhhhh! Nothing more satisfying than stopping monks from healing, stopping Elementalist from casting that high damaging spell or making warriors wonder why every swing of their weapon is missing their target.
Yup, my favourite build is shutdown/interrupt.
I agree that many people do underestimate the capabilities of a mesmer. I did, too, when I first started playing GW. Looking at the profession and skillset, the mesmer wasn't one that I wanted to play. But after spending some time trying the mesmer out, it has quickly become my favourite profession to play. It isn't an easy profession to play, as I find many of the mesmer skills/spells are conditional and require patience and good timing. But the results are rewarding. These days when I play my warrior and I come face-to-face with an enemy mesmer, I get very cagey as I have a good idea what they can do if given the opportunity.

I love interrupting but shutdown, I'm not so good at. Energy denial is fun too, but combined with malaise, it's more fun And I agree, I feel limited as a pure mesmer - there's really only domination or illusion lines, while other classes have 3. Inspiration is more for support on your energy management, so you're stuck with one line to work with. Fast casting goes unsaid is also support. I must always have fast cast and inspiration, so I feel stuck sometimes

Shutdown/ interrupt every time, having the opposition too scared to try and cast is fun.

Must be a E/Me interupter. Got enough energy so i dont have to worry that much about energy and not a first target as a mesmer. Only res signet and mesmer spells in my spellbar so i consider it a mesmer

Shutdown/interrupt FTW. I'm pretty sure the last team my guild faced in GVG were wondering where the hell the mesmer was, as I was standing safely behind a wall, throwing out echoed Cries of Frustration. I may not do a whole lot of damage, but demoralizing the opposition works just as well.

Glyph of Renewal shutdown mes/ele. There are so many variations and different neat tricks you can do with Glyph of Renewal and domination skills.

I love using empathy and clumsiness on warriors, nothing like seeing them go down quick.

been playing mesmer for my guild for a good 4-5 months now,
my fav build has to be the silent 'energy' assassin mesmer
a mesmer which allows the enemy to take blame for their own losses, i.e. casting whilst having shame/guilt/diversion on them, spamming panic in clusters etc
so i guess it comes into the shutdown/denial catagory
but i must say that migraine mesmers with mass interupts own too cos sometimes its just too EaSy.
